Training Room Shines at the Inaugural Island Games: Outstanding Performances Across Elite and Everyday Categories
The Island Games is an exciting competition that took place last weekend in the stunning Birzebbuga Pretty Bay area. This was the first edition of the event, and it was organised over three days, showcasing an incredible setup that drew international athletes from all over the world. Training Room had 20 members competing across two categories: the Elite Category and the Everyday Category. With a total of 61 international teams in the Elite Category, and 37 categories in the Everyday Category, the competition was fierce, but TR members showed their strength and talent at every turn.

The best result of the competition came from the TR team "The Last Hope," comprised of Coaches Corey Leighton, Julia Abarca, Anastasiya Plyushkina, and regular TR guest member Tom Grey. This impressive team finished just outside of the podium in 4th place overall, competing against 61 international teams in the Elite Category! Their standout moment was an event win in the Devil's Paddle, where they finished with an incredible time of 5 minutes 6 seconds. Along with their event victory, "The Last Hope" also managed to secure three additional top-5 finishes over the weekend, truly showcasing the talent and skill of our coaches and members at TR.

Other strong performances came from Coach Natasha Fenech and her team, TR15, who finished in 13th place overall. They also managed a top-10 finish when they placed 3rd in the Devil’s Paddle. The team Maltese Mixup, made up of TR members Alvaro Morena, Michaela Camilleri, and Richard D'Aguiar, finished 19th in the Elite Category, with their best finish being 10th place in Sink or Sync – Part 2. Black Birds, a team of TR members Jonathan Sant, Emma Zammit, and Anna Aloisio, finished 23rd, with their top finish being 9th place in Devil's Paddle.

Other notable results included TR members Manuel Manolo and Desire Schmid, who formed the team GRND. They finished 27th overall, securing a 3rd place finish in Sink or Sync – Part 2. Coach Clive Cassar represented EEETWELL and finished in 40th place, while Darren Bowd and his team, Fort Fitness, ended the competition in 52nd place.
In the Everyday Category, TR had a strong presence as well. Team 2 Pizelli 2 Irkotta, made up of TR members Brenton Frendo and Mikhail Schembri, finished in 14th place out of 41 teams and managed to claim an event win in the Pull the Trigger event. Another TR team, WOD the Funk, which included members Liam Davis, Emma Coleiro, Stefano Moncado, and Christabel Camilleri, finished in 25th place overall.

This competition demonstrated the depth of talent at Training Room, both in the Elite and Everyday categories. Congratulations to all of our competitors!
